Dr. de
Freitas, founder of
Healthy Chats LLC,
has fostered her special interest in
children's health education into her
attitude and life changing seminars for
girls and their mothers/guardians. A
physician for 24 years and member of the
American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. de
Freitas is passionate about parents properly
educating their pre-teen girls through
on-going discussions.
She first became aware of the need for an
easy-to-understand, age-appropriate
program about puberty and conception in when
her own children were in elementary school
in Ann Arbor, MI. Volunteering at the
school, she introduced a curriculum for
mothers and their tween girls. Requests for
more sessions to share this vital
information came flooding in -
and so her
Healthy Chats for Girls

seminars were born.
For the past 15 years, Dr. de Freitas has
presented her fun, informative seminars to a
variety of groups area including schools and
Girl Scout troops in the San Diego area,
reaching thousands of mothers and daughters.
She is pleased to now be able to bring her
vital information to a broader audience.
The doctor believes that these important
discussions must start at home -
incorporating parents’ values and principles.
She created

so that mothers can have all the information
they need to successfully share the
essentials and set a solid foundation for
open, healthy discussions throughout these
next very formative years.
Among her honors and achievements, Dr. de
Freitas was selected by the San Diego County
Medical Society and San Diego Magazine as
one of the area’s top doctors (2006).
She is the author of "Keys to Your Child's
Healthy Sexuality"
(Barron’s Educational Series, 1998),
"Puberty in Girls" and “Puberty in Boys”
(Health Infonet, 2000), and "The Birds and
the Bees with Ease” (Medic Publishing Co.,
2000). Dr. de Freitas has been
married 29 years and is the proud mother
of three children.
